A native and resident for most of her life of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Luther and Elva Ritchie Ditmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erma Thomas \"Stump\" Rountree, on Feb. 5, 1995; one daughter, Betty Jean Rountree; one son, Earnest Thomas \"Tommy\" Rountree; two granddaughters, Terra Annette Rountree and Debbie Russell Ivens; two sisters, Juanita Galyon and Onari Rountree; and one brother, Charles B. \"Charlie\" Ditmore. She was a member of McMahan Calvary Baptist Church, and was a retired seamstress. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Larry Russell and Becky and Harold Smith, all of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Phyllis Rountree of Charleston; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty D. and Frank Pierce of Athens, and Jane McKinney of Chattanooga; one brother-in-law, Howard Alvin Rountree of Athens; one sister-in-law, Winona Ridaught; 11 grandchildren, Beverly Long, Sharon Gardner, Karen Sliger, Shannon Self, Christy Elliott, Travis Rountree, Penny Martin, Chad Rountree, Jason Smith, Tracy Russell and Mitzi Ruth; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Bates officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Tracy Russell, Travis Rountree, Chad Rountree, Joseph Self and Daryl Galyon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
