James Thomas \"Tom\" Jones, 86, of Decatur, and formerly of Calhoun, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

A native of Calhoun, and a longtime resident of Meigs County, he was a son of the late Luke and Nannie Porter Jones. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Labor Local 846 in Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Cornett Jones; three brothers, Bill, Roy and Dave Jones; and two sisters, Minnie Swanson and Mary Sue Caviet.

Survivors include one nephew and his wife, Marvin and Sue Hayes of Decatur; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Redman officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
