Melisa Ethel Dennison, 95, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville.

A daughter of the late Juniper and Virginia Caroline Alford Meadows, she was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Meigs County. She was a lifelong resident of Meigs County, and lived in Monterey with her daughter and son-in-law for two years after a stroke when she was 90. She has been in the nursing home since, first at Standing Stone Healthcare in Monterey and then NHC in Cookeville. She was a member of Peakland Baptist Church in Meigs County. During World War II she worked at Oak Ridge, and she was retired from the garment industry. She spent 30 years in the Meigs County Senior Citizens RSVP Volunteer program and participated in the Senior Olympics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Dale Dennison, who passed away in 1979; five brothers, William Cline, James Bryant, Carl Franklin, Juniper Brady and Jubal Grady Meadows; and two sisters, Virginia Gertrude Bidwell and Ruby Jean McHone. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nelta June Dennison Corn and William S. \"Bill\" Corn Sr. of Cookeville; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary Eugene and Charlotte Dennison of Maryville; two granddaughters, Melisa Ruth Corn McCollough and her husband, Brad, of Cookeville, and Jodi Lynn Dennison of Maryville; one grandson, William Stephen \"Steve\" Corn Jr. and his wife, Santje, of Knoxville; five great-grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Crouch and Jeffery Tyler Martin Crouch, both of Cookeville, Miranda Rain Corn of Lebanon, Hana Maria Corn and Elijah Cason Corn, both of Knoxville; two sisters, Helen Pauline Jiles of Ten Mile and Etta Ruth Meadows of Decatur; one brother-in-law, John Ike McHone of Decatur; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces; and a good friend, Margaret McCloud, of NHC Cookeville.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pisgah Baptist Church, 486 Pisgah Academy Road, in Decatur with the Rev. Herman Jordan and the Rev. Ray Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Church Cemetery with great-nephews and great-nieces serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
