DECATUR - Meigs County's season-long struggle with the bats finally caught up with the Lady Tigers and it couldn't have come at a worse time. East Ridge pitcher Ashley Irvin struck out 10, scattered five hits and provided the go-ahead run with a solo home run in the fifth inning to give the Lady Pioneers a 2-1 victory over Meigs County in the Region 3-AA tournament semifinal game on Tuesday. |

DECATUR - Meigs County's softball seniors set a record that can't be broken Thursday as the Lady Tigers defeated Polk County to win their fourth straight District 5-AA Tournament title. Meigs County jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a first-inning home run by Morgan Boggess and cruised to a 6-2 victory. |

KINGSPORT - Baseball Coach Billy Berry said earlier this week, the winner of the five-team bracket at Hunter-Wright Stadium in the NAIA national playoffs would be determined by which club "plays the best for three days." Starter Corey Rhoney pitched seven strong innings and reliever Corey Collins finished the job as the top-seeded Bulldogs blanked fifth-seeded St. Francis of Illinois on Thursday, 3-0. |
