Ruth Strange Strang

Ruth Strange Strang, 87, of Etowah, died Saturday morning, June 13, 2009, at her residence.

A native of Inman, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Paul H. and Pearl Thompson Strange, and was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Theodore Strang, on Nov. 22, 2006; two sisters, Louise Strange and Della Graham; and one brother, Olen Strange. She was a member of Athens Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a graduate of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale. She was a school teacher for 40 years at schools in Tennessee, Alabama, Maryland, North Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia until her retirement.

Survivors include one daughter; Nancy Strang Smith of Trenton, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Gerald and Faye Strang of Chattanooga, and Edwin Dale and Brenda Strang of Englewood; four granddaughters, Sonja Meadows, Lee Ann Crabtree, Tina Colburn and Tracy Arnett; four grandsons, Jeffrey Strang, Darren Strang, Chris Guffey, and Joe Guffey; two sisters, Viola Suddeth of Inman, S.C., and Daisy Howell of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; two brothers, Nelson Strange of Campabello, S.C., and David Strange of Inman, S.C.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Wooten officiating. Burial will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
